If I couldn’t feel the guitar’s vibration in my chest and ears, I’m not sure I would play. I’m mostly an audience of one.

This is very true in my experience. For 25 years, I wrote a newsletter with the intention of using it to help me get clients. And it worked. I think I wrote from a genuine place, but I always wanted to "set the hook" and get someone to say, "Can you help me?"

Now it's a little different. I have nothing to sell. Only to express my ideas about awareness and aliveness, the best I can. It's nice if I get a response, but more important is whether writing that article helped me to be more aware.

About music. These days, I prefer listening to my jazz albums at home rather than going to a concert. The sound is always better, I can play a wide variety of music, and don't have to hang around if the music isn't moving me. I can just play something else. For some, as with Joshua Bell, it's just the opposite. If I paid good money for a ticket, it must be worth it. But I've discovered that music played in my own room is just as good or better.

And I'm also like that about food. Eating out? Meh. Making a good home-cooked dinner? Bliss!

Fear. Procrastination. Other shinier baubles of less consequence.

If I were you, I’d fear not doing it. Watch “Big Fish” again.
